The article is a study of the aspects of communicative culture among the Kazakh, that are related to traditions and rites of greeting and parting. Drawing on field data collected in various regions of Kazakhstan as well as those regions of Mongolia where there are Kazakh populations, the author analyzes the issue by focusing on gender, age, and other aspects of the greeting and parting norms.
