Benediction is one of the Mongolian folklore, a symbol of goodness, and a ritual phrase that symbolizes the desire to live a happy life. There are many types of benediction, such as New ger (traditional dwelling) benediction (for a new ger, wishing a good life to new homeowners), Wedding benediction (wishing a good and happy life to newly married couples), Feast benediction (symbolizing a vessel for airag or alcohol to be full at all times), etc. Within the practice of benediction, there are expressions such as receiving a benediction and returning a benediction. In return for a benediction, one would wish for it to be fulfilled or wish for further good encounters. Benedictions are developed for religious and moral purposes. For example, there are benedictions in which the gods are praised and soothed. The “Benediction” heritage element is registered in the “Oral traditions and expressions, including language” domain of the National Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mongolia.
