Description

This publication was prepared within the project "Research of traditional crafts of modern Kazakhstan: the present status and searching for ways of preservation"[AR09259862, 2021-2023] supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The atlas contains brief historical information and field data on the current state of traditional crafts of Kazakhstan. Based on historical and field data authors-compilers describe such traditional crafts as jewelry, blacksmithing, artistic processing of wood and other materials, carpet weaving, embroidery and many others. Particular attention is paid to contemporary artisans, bearers of this significant part of Kazakhstan’s intangible cultural heritage. The atlas is aimed at students and teachers of all creative and pedagogical specialities, specialists in cultural policy and a wide range of readers. The archive photographs were kindly provided by the Central State Archive of Film and Photo Documents and Sound Recording of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The rest of the photographs were prepared as part of this project by Alexei Kamensky and Aman Ibragimov, as well as provided by the masters themselves.
