| Description | The article interprets the image of «Zhelmayia» in Kazakh mythology. For this purpose, its symbolic meaning has been revealed in the cultures of East and West, in Christian and Islamic cultures, and features of the image-symbol in these cultures have been revealed. It also analyzes the etymology of words-synonyms «zhampoz» and «Zhelmayia». In order to comprehend the image of Zhelmay in Kazakh mythology, a comparative analysis of fairy tales and legends about Korkyt and Asan Kaiga was conducted. The concepts of mythological time, mythological space, sacral chronotope are analyzed. The symbolic meaning of the image of «Zhelmayia» as a symbol of the sacral chronotope in the Kazakh culture is revealed. |
