This book of the landscape type is dedicated to the very important branch of the applied arts of Kazakhs: the jeweler’s art. In this album aside from the ancient artifacts and traditional women’s jewelry of the 18th – 21st centuries, you can find the items (belts, horse harnesses, household articles), in which a jeweler’s work is present in this way or another. The major part of the illustrations represents the exhibits of the RK State Museum of Art named after A. Kasteev. Besides, among them there are works of the modern professional jewelers, which reflect the continuity of the ethnic traditions together with authors’ fantasy. In the textual part of the book you can find the results of the systematic (cultural-and-genetic, structural-and-morphological, artistic-and-technical, semiotic, historical-and-comparative) and complex analyses of the works of the Kazakhs’ jeweler’s art, in which the author had made use of the data of archeology, ethnography, folklore, art criticism, and semiotics. This book, containing the texts and a lot of pictures, will be of an interest not only to the specialists in the field of liberal arts, but to every person trying to know more about the art heritage of kazakhstan.
