| Description | The main functions of the Kazakhstan ICH National Committee on safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage include: assistance to achievement of the Convention (2003) goals, active participation in preparation and implementation of the Concept of Safeguarding and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (adopted in April 2013, ref.no.408), design of recommendations to the designated bodies and the National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO on measures for safeguarding and promotion of the intangible cultural heritage, providing consultations to introduce of the good international practice, review of the proposed inscriptions of the ICH elements to the UNESCO global lists and the National ICH Inventory, which were submitted by initiative groups and communities. The National Committee also needs to ensure broad participation of communities, groups and, in appropriate cases, individuals who are engaged in creation, safeguarding and transfer of the ICH practices. |
